Project Description
Creating a “democratic space” in which learners are able to dream and plan their desired futures with an integrated methodology involving the cooperation of different movement and interaction spaces. We were tasked to design a campus for Maseala Progressive primary School. The masterplan was to include computer rooms, classrooms, an adutorium, hostel and sports field to mature a functioning education environment.
A layout concept with a centralized courtyard provides a strong sense of community while providing spatial stability inspired by the traditional village layout. A central courtyard allows learners to feel protected within the courtyard. Spaces are designed to be versatile which encourages creativity and supports special assemblies, school celebrations, and sporting events. Its layout will act as a social catalyst, providing many opportunities for all for learners and teachers to interact.
“Transfer of knowledge through interaction informs possible spatial arrangement to allow for interaction & connection of people. Building typologies that allow for exchange & connection”
